The gift of education

13 Jan 2009, by elance programmer in Uncategorized

My family has always been supportive of TEN’s work, even though I’m away from them for most of the year. They’ve helped with donations, hosting awareness parties, and even coming to visit India to see the work first hand. Right before I left to go home for Christmas, we had arranged for a high-risk girl to be admitted into one of the shelter homes.

When I got home, my grandmother asked if I wanted anything. I know she loves giving me things, it makes her happy to pick out clothes for her grandchildren. But I asked her if she could instead sponsor this little girl for one year of education and board at the shelter home. Sure enough, in my Christmas stocking was a check for one year’s sponsorship. I can’t wait to come back and show this girl photos of my Granma!
